I Love Holidays
I’m convinced that holidays are little gifts from God. Just when you think you can’t take it one more day, along comes a holiday to give you a much needed break from the grind. Today, we celebrated the life of an extraordinary man who stood up for his beliefs and ultimately, gave his life for them.
According to an article I read today on the Seattle Times Website:
“Martin Luther King Jr. has now been dead longer than he lived. At 33, he was pressing the case of civil rights with President John Kennedy. At 34, he galvanized the nation with his “I Have a Dream” speech. At 35, he won the Nobel Peace Prize. At 39, he was assassinated, but he left a legacy of hope and inspiration that continues today.”
The life of Martin Luther King has impacted countless people. His civil rights leadership helped bring equality to a race of people who were mistreated for many years. Unfortunately, some are still treated unfairly today, but I share MLK’s dream of an America where no one is judged by their race. We are all precious in God’s sight –the color of our skin is irrelevant.
When I read about MLK’s life, I’m inspired to do more with my own. I don’t think I’ll be winning the Nobel Peace Prize anytime soon or giving a historic speech that galvanizes the nation, but I dream of making a difference in the lives of those around me. I may not change the entire world, but I can make a difference — one soul at a time.
So can you.
I really enjoyed your perspective on MLK’s life. One thing that fascinates me about his life is the weaknesses MLK had, and yet God still uses him to make a difference.
God Bless

Thanks for the comment. Yes, it proves that God can use all of us in spite of our shortcomings. No one is perfect. We just have to be willing to let Him lead us to greatness.
