Prince Caspian and Pools

It was a gorgeous day here in Dallas so we spent the better part of the afternoon lounging in the pool. It was a nice respite from the busyness of the previous week. Afterwards, we headed to Studio Movie Grill with the ALC “One Life” group to immerse ourselves in the fantastical world of Narnia.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is well worth the money. If you liked the first movie, then this one will not disappoint. The movie follows the kids back to Narnia, but it has changed dramatically since their departure. Evil men rule the land and the creatures of Narnia have been driven into hiding. Prince Caspian flees into the woods after escaping from his Uncle who desires to take his throne. He summons the Pevensies who, along with Prince Caspian, attempt to restore peace in the land.

That’s when the movie really starts to pick up the pace. This movie is more than 2 hours long, but it doesn’t feel like it. I was entertained the entire time. There is alot of action and a few bits of well-placed humor.

Amidst the entertainment, there’s also an important message conveyed throughout the film. Lucy faces a struggle similar to what most Christians face today. She must follow Aslan even when others do not believe. It isn’t easy or comfortable, but she knows it’s the right thing to do — even if she has to do it alone.

When Aslan asks her why she didn’t come sooner, it struck a nerve with me. God wants us to approach Him with our needs and concerns. He desires to help, but for whatever reason, we don’t come. Instead, we try to do it on our own and fail. Finally, when we turn to God, He asks, “Why didn’t you come sooner?”
