The Celebration

Gary took me out tonight to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. The theme for the night was “15 memorable moments.” Everything about the evening was centered around 15 moments we’ve shared throughout our married life. For example, to celebrate the moments of looking forward to our France trip, he took me to dinner at a neat little French restaurant, Lavendou, in Plano.

One of the funny moments on the list was when we went to visit the Vatican Museums in Rome. We arrived near closing time, but decided to see if we could get in anyway. We started walking around the walled enclave trying to find the entrance. At one point, we came across a few doors, but they didn’t look like an entrance so we kept walking…and walking and walking and walking. We actually walked around the entire sovereign city-state trying to find an entrance — it took forever. Finally, we realized that we missed the entrance and would have to come back the next day (turns out the doors we passed at the beginning of our walk was the entrance after all). In honor of that long walk, Gary gave me a GPS system to help us find our way on future trips (haha)!

Also, since the traditional gift and flowers associated with the 15th anniversary are crystal and roses, he sent a bundle of roses and gave me a Swarovski crystal heart bracelet — gorgeous!

There were many other memorable moments and gifts, each special in their own way. We’ve shared so many great moments over the years, and it was really fun to walk down memory lane together tonight.

Gary is so creative, and he really put a lot of thought into the celebration. It was a great night. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful man in my life. We’ve had 15 fabulous years, and the best is yet to come!
