I Do
I can’t think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day than at a wedding. It’s the perfect example of what this day stands for — the ultimate declaration of love. I’m not terribly romantic, but there’s something about a wedding that stirs up my “girlie” side. Every little girl dreams of her wedding day, and it’s fun to witness that dream come true.
Watching a wedding always makes me think back to my own wedding fifteen years ago. I can still remember exactly how I felt as I stood at the end of the aisle and looked up at the man who would soon become my husband. It was an amazing feeling of anticipation, love, excitement, and joy.
When Gary and I stood in front of our friends and family and committed our lives to each other like Jason and Shana did today, a new era in our lives began. Everything changed that day. We were no longer two individuals going through life on our own, we were a couple facing life together. We didn’t have much in terms of material possessions, but we had each other and that was more than enough to keep us happy.
Through the years — the ups and the downs, the good and bad — our love has remained the same. I cherish the time we spend together. I’m proud to be his wife. I’m glad I said, “I do”, and I’m very happy that Gary is still my “Valentine.”
