Rehearsing and Whirlyballing
We’re doing a comedy sketch in tomorrow’s church service. It goes along with the sermon series that our Pastor has been teaching this month, “The Comfortable Christian”. It’s about Christians who become so comfortable with their lives that they are no good to anyone else. They don’t want to get involved, don’t want to help, don’t want to reach out to others. They just want to sit back and be comfortable.
Tomorrow’s sketch is about a couch potato who won’t get off the couch for anything. I’m playing the couch potato, so it should be pretty fun. I’ll be vegging on the couch, eating sloppy and wearing crazy grungy clothes. And the coup de grâce…I’m wearing curlers and teasing my hair. I’m going to look like such a slob; it should be hilarious. The part is very out of character for me, but I’m having a blast playing it. I’ll try to get a video to share in tomorrow’s blog.
After rehearsal tonight, we met up with the young married group at our church for a night of Whirlyball. If you’ve never played it, then you’re missing out. It’s sort of like playing basketball (or maybe polo) while in a bumper car. I love it!
We reserved the court for two hours, so we had plenty of time. Initially, the girls played against the guys. We didn’t do too bad at first. However, they began to slaughter us fairly fast; they’re just so competitive! At that point, we began switching up the teams. My team lost most of the time, but we pulled out a couple of wins. Yay for the “yellow” team. 🙂
We finished off the night with a late dinner at TGI Fridays.
Good times.
